Role Description The Associate role at SBC is a full-time hybrid position based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with flexibility for some work-from-home days. The Associate will support sustainability consulting projects by assisting with environmental assessments, data collection and analysis related to energy use, materials, and waste, and preparing technical reports and presentations for clients. Responsibilities include contributing to green building design recommendations, researching sustainable construction practices, and helping develop strategies that improve resource efficiency and regulatory compliance. The Associate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, participate in client meetings, and help coordinate project timelines and deliverables. The role also involves monitoring industry trends, maintaining organized project documentation, and supporting internal process improvements to enhance service quality. Qualifications Knowledge of sustainable building design, energy efficiency, and environmentally responsible materials selection. Ability to conduct research, analyze technical data, and prepare clear reports and presentations. Strong organizational and project coordination skills, including attention to detail and time management. Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and a hybrid work environment. Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, environmental science, construction management, or a related field. Familiarity with green building standards or certifications (e.g., LEED or similar frameworks) is an advantage. Proficiency with common office and data analysis software; experience with design or modeling tools is beneficial. Demonstrated interest in sustainability, climate resilience, and responsible urban development.
