A leading manufacturer in Addis Ababa is looking for an experienced Cost Accountant to join their finance team. If you know production costing inside and out and can turn the numbers into decisions management can act on, this one's worth a look.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain standard costs, update BOMs, routings, and labor and material rates
Keep inventory and cost accounting records accurate
Prepare and monitor production, operational, and per-unit cost reports for management
Run variance analysis (material, labor, and overhead) against standards and recommend corrective action
Value and control inventory across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods; oversee store records and periodic physical counts, and investigate discrepancies
Track and analyze production yield, scrap, wastage, and rework, and quantify their cost impact
Support product and margin profitability analysis to inform pricing and product-mix decisions
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing
Ensure records comply with IFRS and Ethiopian tax requirements (VAT, withholding, and excise where applicable) and company policy
Maintain accurate costing data in the ERP/accounting system
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
At least 4 years in cost accounting within manufacturing
Strong Excel skills and experience with cost accounting software
Sharp analytical judgment and consistent accuracy
