For 74 years it operated under the Swedish Embassy as the Swedish Community School before transitioning in 2019 to an independent, not-for-profit international school. Reports to: Board/interim committee Coordinates with: General Manager, Finance Manager, Principal/vice principal Working Hours: Monday – Thursday (7:30 am – 4:30 pm) and Fridays (from 7:30 am – 3:30 pm). Job Summary The Internal Auditor is responsible for evaluating and improving the effectiveness of the school’s internal controls, risk management, and governance processes. This role involves conducting audits, preparing reports, and providing recommendations to enhance operational efficiency and ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Key Duties and Responsibilities Audit Planning Develop and implement an annual audit plan based on a risk assessment of the school’s operations. Identify areas for audit focus and prepare audit schedules. Conduct Audits Perform regular audits of financial, operational, and compliance processes to assess the effectiveness of internal controls. Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of policies and procedures. Risk Assessment Identify and assess risks affecting the school’s operations and recommend strategies for risk mitigation. Monitor changes in regulations and industry standards that may impact school practices. Reporting Prepare detailed audit reports summarizing findings, conclusions, and recommendations for improvement. Present audit results to the General Manager and relevant stakeholders. Follow-Up Monitor the implementation of audit recommendations and assess their effectiveness. Conduct follow-up audits as necessary to ensure compliance and improvement. Compliance Monitoring Ensure that the school operates in compliance with local and international regulations, as well as internal policies. Assist in preparing for external audits and regulatory inspections. Advisory Role Provide recommendations for enhancing internal controls, improving operational efficiency, and reducing risks. Collaborate with management to promote a culture of compliance and accountability. Documentation Maintain comprehensive documentation of audit procedures, findings, and recommendations. Ensure that audit records are organized and readily accessible for review. Continuous Improvement Stay informed about best practices in auditing and internal controls. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance auditing skills. The KIS Internal Auditor is also responsible to perform other job-related duties as assigned by the KIS Board. Key Performance Indicators Audit plan completion rate Compliance and control effectiveness Timely audit reporting Audit finding resolution rate Risk and fraud detection effectiveness About You Qualifications: BA/MA degree in accounting, accounting and finance, business Management, management or related fields of studies with 10 years of experience out of which 8/6 years in management roles, preferably within an educational environment. Professional certification (e.g., CIA, CPA, CISA) is an advantage. Proven experience in internal auditing, preferably in an educational setting. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with various stakeholders.
