Its services include nutrition interventions, psychosocial care, dental care, and speech therapy. Position: Accountant Intern The Accountant Intern will support the Finance team with routine accounting and finance activities under the supervision of the Finance and Operations Manager (FOM). Educational Qualification BA in Accounting from a recognized university Experience 0 years of experience The position is intended for candidates seeking internship experience in accounting and finance. Required Skills and Behaviors Applicants should have: Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English and Amharic Basic knowledge of accounting principles Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel Familiarity with internet, Teams, and financial tools Motivation to work as an intern accountant Coordination and teamwork skills Willingness to learn and ability to be coached Willingness to work during regular working hours, with flexibility to work outside regular hours when required Key Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Finance and Operations Manager, the Accountant Intern will: Assist the Finance team with routine finance-related activities at the office. Where there is no finance personnel, assist Program Coordinators at partner hospitals with payments related to patient transportation, meals, and accommodation. Prepare necessary documents and facilitate timely payment of training and workshop-related expenses. Assist the Finance and Operations Manager in tracking financial transactions and collecting expense and financial documents from the program team in a timely manner, particularly from Program Coordinators based at partner hospitals. Assist with settling financial documents on a timely basis. Assist the Finance and Operations Manager in scanning and organizing financial documents for regular financial reporting on a weekly basis. Assist the Finance and Operations Manager with travel-related financial activities and collection of financial and related documents from banks, Ethiopian Revenues and Customs Authority (ERCA)/tax offices, and other government and non-government counterparts as appropriate. Enter monthly purchase data, income tax, pension, and withholding statistics into the relevant government platform and collect receipts as necessary. Perform other activities assigned by the supervisor. Compensation and Internship Conditions This is a non-employment internship/volunteer position. Operation Smile Ethiopia will provide a stipend as compensation. Important Requirement The intern is responsible for providing a functional laptop for the internship.
