Company Description Gabaa-place is an Ethiopia-based Telegram Mini App that enables sellers to turn existing groups and channels into live storefronts without needing a website, coding skills, or leaving Telegram. By adding @gabaa_bot, sellers can quickly set up a store, list products, accept orders, manage inventory, and track earnings from a single dashboard. Buyers shop directly inside Telegram, leveraging existing trust and community connections. Gabaa-place is built on the belief that the next wave of commerce will emerge inside everyday chat platforms, and in Ethiopia that means Telegram. The team is focused on creating simple, reliable tools that support local businesses and modern chat-based commerce. Role Description The Senior Software Engineer will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining the core systems that power Gabaa-place’s Telegram Mini App and supporting services. This full-time, on-site role is based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and involves collaborating with product, design, and operations teams to develop scalable back-end solutions, integrate with Telegram APIs, and improve system reliability and performance. Day-to-day tasks include designing software architectures, implementing new features, refactoring and optimizing existing code, writing automated tests, and participating in code reviews. The Senior Software Engineer will also monitor production systems, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to technical strategy and best practices. Mentoring other engineers and supporting a culture of clean, maintainable code and continuous improvement are important aspects of this role. Qualifications Strong foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles. Proficiency in Software Development and Programming, with experience delivering production-ready applications. Hands-on experience in Back-End Web Development, including API design, databases, and system integration. Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and ability to design modular, reusable code. Experience building scalable, secure, and high-availability systems, preferably in a startup or high-growth environment. Comfort working with cloud services, containers, or related infrastructure tools. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts clearly. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
