🚨 We're Hiring: Senior Internist (Specialist) 📍 Addis Ababa | 🏥 New Leaf Medical Complex 🌟 Job Summary New Leaf Medical Complex is seeking a highly qualified, experienced, and patient-centred Senior Internist (Specialist) to provide comprehensive specialist medical care, clinical leadership, diagnosis, treatment, and management of adult patients. The Senior Internist will be responsible for managing complex medical conditions, supporting multidisciplinary clinical decision-making, mentoring junior medical staff, and contributing to clinical quality, patient safety, and service excellence. 🔑 Key Responsibilities 1. Specialist Clinical Care * Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of adult patients. * Manage acute, chronic, and complex internal medicine conditions. * Conduct detailed history taking, physical examinations, and clinical assessments. * Develop evidence-based and individualised treatment plans. * Review and adjust treatment plans based on clinical progress and investigation results. * Provide appropriate referrals to other specialties when required. * Manage inpatient and outpatient cases according to assigned responsibilities. 2. Diagnosis & Clinical Decision-Making * Request and appropriately interpret laboratory, imaging, and other diagnostic investigations. * Integrate clinical findings and investigation results to establish accurate diagnoses. * Identify urgent and critical conditions and initiate appropriate interventions. * Apply current clinical guidelines, protocols, and evidence-based medical practice. 3. Patient Safety & Quality of Care * Ensure safe, ethical, and patient-centred clinical practice. * Follow hospital clinical protocols, infection prevention standards, medication safety requirements, and patient safety procedures. * Maintain accurate, complete, and timely medical documentation. * Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement, morbidity and mortality reviews, and other quality initiatives. * Identify and report clinical risks and adverse events appropriately. 4. Multidisciplinary Collaboration * Work closely with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, laboratory professionals, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals. * Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and clinical consultations. * Provide specialist consultation and clinical guidance to other medical teams when required. * Support continuity of care across departments and services. 5. Clinical Leadership & Mentorship * Provide clinical guidance and mentorship to junior physicians, residents, and other healthcare professionals as applicable. * Support the development of clinical competencies within the Internal Medicine team. * Participate in clinical teaching, case presentations, grand rounds, and professional development activities. * Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, teamwork, and continuous learning. 6. Emergency & Critical Patient Management * Assess and manage patients presenting with acute and potentially life-threatening medical conditions. * Provide appropriate initial stabilisation and coordinate escalation of care when required. * Participate in emergency consultations, on-call duties, and hospital clinical coverage as assigned. 7. Patient & Family Communication * Communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, risks, and expected outcomes clearly and respectfully. * Educate patients and families regarding disease management, medication, lifestyle modification, and follow-up care. * Demonstrate empathy, confidentiality, respect, and professionalism in all patient interactions. 8. Clinical Documentation & Reporting * Maintain accurate patient histories, examination findings, diagnoses, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries. * Ensure appropriate use of HMIS/EMR and other clinical information systems. * Prepare clinical reports and participate in departmental reporting as required. 9.
