Job Description

Report to :- Mining Manager Job Level :- Supervisory/Managerial level The Role KGM is searching for a Mining Superintendent with a minimum of 5 years of experience to oversee open pit mining operations. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective production while maintaining compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in driving operational performance, workforce capability, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Duties will include but are not limited to the following: Overseeing daily open pit mining operations to ensure achievement of production targets safely and efficiently Ensuring strict adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality standards by the mining teams Managing and coordinating mining contractors and operational teams Monitoring and optimizing drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling activities Driving production planning execution in alignment with short- and medium-term mine plans Identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce costs Ensuring effective utilization of equipment and resources Developing and mentoring supervisors and operational teams to build capability and performance Collaborating with technical services, maintenance, and other departments to ensure integrated operations Reporting on production performance, safety metrics, and operational challenges. About You Qualifications Degree or M.Sc. in Mining Engineering or related field and a Minimum of 5–10 years’ experience in open pit mining, with at least 3–5 years in a supervisory or superintendent role in a Cement factory , Mining Industry or Heavy industries is advantageous Valid Blasting Certificate for open pit mining Be in possession of a driver’s license. Required Skills and experience: Strong understanding of open pit mining methods, equipment, and production processes Proven leadership and team management experience in a mining environment Sound knowledge of safety regulations and best practices Experience working in remote or site-based operations Ability to respond quickly to business needs, agile, flexible, continuous learning, innovation and proven ability to experiment on creative business solutions. Ability to be inclusive, eagerness for multiple skills, embracing multiple cultures, accepting different approaches and be human-centric and empathetic. Results oriented, quality driven, excellence, entrepreneurial abilities, efficient and effective. Coaching, mentoring, and guiding development of employees. High level of integrity and dependability. Ability to work effectively as a team member in a multi-cultural environment.
