Job Description
Deloitte is hiring a Financial Accountant in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The position is part of Member Firm Internal Services – Finance and is responsible for general ledger management, financial reporting, fixed asset accounting, statutory compliance, reconciliations, and financial close activities.

Financial Accountant – Job Responsibilities
General Ledger Management
Maintain the integrity of the general ledger through preparation, review, and processing of journal entries.
Process accruals, provisions, reallocations, adjustments, and period-end entries.
Monitor and resolve accounting discrepancies in a timely manner.
Support general ledger updates and maintain alignment between the General Ledger and supporting sub-ledgers.
Fixed Asset Accounting
Oversee fixed asset accounting, including the Fixed Asset Register and asset master data.
Review capital expenditure transactions and ensure accurate asset classification and capitalization.
Manage depreciation, impairment, disposal, and recognition of asset sale proceeds.
Reconcile the Fixed Asset Register with the General Ledger.
Validate GIS asset records and related reporting.
Financial Close and Reporting
Support period-end and year-end accounting activities across the general ledger, SAP Finance, revenue, and reporting systems.
Prepare balance sheet reconciliations.
Contribute to the preparation of statutory financial statements.
Manage the financial close calendar and communicate key timelines and deliverables.
Compliance and Audit
Manage statutory filings and remittances in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Coordinate engagements, audits, and reviews with statutory and regulatory bodies.
Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
Staff Debtors
Manage accounting and reconciliation activities relating to staff debtors.
Process journals, allocations, and payroll deductions related to staff debtors.
Governance and Reporting
Provide regular updates to the CFO and Regional Controllership Manager on accounting movements and key General Ledger matters.
Participate in regional controllership forums, training, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Ensure compliance with established accounting policies, controls, and standardized processes.
Serve as the primary finance contact for in-country accounting matters.
Develop and maintain reporting templates, ad hoc analyses, and reporting repositories.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
5+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience.
CPA or ACCA is preferred.
Technical Competencies
Strong knowledge of IFRS.
Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP and SAGE.
Strong ability to analyze and interpret complex financial data.
Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
High standards of professional ethics and integrity.
