Role Description
The Senior Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger entries, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and monthly closing activities. The Senior Accountant prepares financial statements and management reports, monitors budget performance, and supports forecasting and financial planning. The role also involves ensuring compliance with local regulations and internal policies, coordinating with external auditors, and recommending process improvements to strengthen internal controls. The Senior Accountant collaborates closely with leadership and other departments to provide accurate financial insights that support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
Maintain accurate financial records and general ledger accounts.
Prepare financial statements, reports, and summaries for management.
Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
Process invoices, payments, and expense reports in a timely manner.
Manage accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding payments.
Conduct bank reconciliations and ensure proper documentation.
Assist in payroll processing and tax calculations.
Audit & Compliance
Prepare financial data for internal and external audits.
Ensure accurate tax filings and compliance with local tax laws.
Maintain organized financial documentation and records.
General Accounting Support
Provide insights and recommendations for financial process improvements.
Assist management in decision-making through financial analysis.
Support other departments with financial data as needed.
Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably in the advertising or service industry.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Technical Skills: Proficient in accounting software (Peachtree) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Strong technical accounting skills, including general ledger management, account reconciliation, and financial statement preparation.
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support business planning and performance monitoring.
Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, as well as solid skills in spreadsheets and financial reporting tools.
Knowledge of applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and compliance requirements relevant to Ethiopia.
