Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Senior Lecturer role based at DebreMarkos University in Debre Markos. The Senior Lecturer will deliver high-quality lectures, seminars, and tutorials, develop and update course materials, and assess student performance through assignments, examinations, and projects. The role includes supervising student research, advising and mentoring students, and contributing to curriculum development within the relevant academic department. The Senior Lecturer will engage in scholarly activities such as research, publication, and conference participation, and may be involved in securing research funding. Additional responsibilities include participating in departmental and university committees, contributing to quality assurance processes, and supporting community engagement initiatives. Qualifications Relevant doctoral or master’s degree in the applicable academic discipline, with strong subject-matter expertise. Demonstrated experience in university-level teaching, course design, and student assessment. Proven track record of research, publications, or scholarly output appropriate to a Senior Lecturer level. Strong communication, presentation, and academic writing skills, with the ability to teach and support diverse learners. Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, contribute to departmental administration, and participate in committee work. Commitment to inclusive teaching practices, ethical conduct, and continuous professional development. Experience supervising student research projects and mentoring early-career academics is an advantage. Familiarity with higher education policies, quality assurance standards, and curriculum development processes is beneficial.
