The Department of Mechanical Engineering at SIT is seeking a vibrant and visionary department coordinator with a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering. The role delivers comprehensive lessons alongside international faculty from the United States, Europe, and beyond, supporting high-quality instruction, mentorship, and capacity building through virtual and hybrid platforms.
Educational Level
Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field
Preferred Skills
Experience coordinating international or virtual academic programs; familiarity with ABET or similar accreditation standards; experience working in multicultural and interdisciplinary environments.
Experience Required
Academic or research experience at the rank of Associate Professor or higher, with demonstrated leadership and administrative experience in an academic setting

Requirements

Strong track record in teaching, research, and mentorship
Demonstrated proficiency with relevant engineering databases, day-to-day software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite), computer-aided design software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo), engineering analysis and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus, MATLAB/Simulink), computational fluid dynamics software (e.g., ANSYS Fluent), and modern manufacturing, testing, and data acquisition systems
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to educational quality, innovation, and community impact
Responsibilities
Support the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Mechanical Engineering curriculum aligned with international standards
Support and coordinate a virtual teaching program with international professionals and diaspora experts
Ensure alignment with ABET accreditation standards by overseeing course material quality, student progress, and academic outcomes
Supervise course projects and bring cutting-edge research and industry-relevant innovation knowledge to students through mentoring
Contribute actively to departmental and institutional governance by serving on academic committees to achieve institutional strategic goals
Foster collaborations with national and international research and technology organizations
