About the jobThe Commercial Manager will be responsible for developing, presenting, and ensuring the execution of long-term sales and business development strategies aimed at driving growth in both the domestic and export markets of Ethiopia. A key focus will be on clearly defining the Route to Market (RTM) and designing effective strategies for various channels, including retail, specialist distributors, and projects, to maximize market reach and profitability. The role will require achieving set targets for volume, revenue, and profitability across the full Saint-Gobain building materials product portfolio, while also implementing efficient sales models that ensure sustainable and recurring revenue streams aligned with overall business objectives.A strong emphasis is placed on customer engagement, with responsibilities including the management and nurturing of customer relationships to maintain high levels of service. The Commercial Manager will play an active role in the launch of new products and innovations, ensuring alignment with customer needs by fostering deep market insights. The role also includes overseeing sales budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring they are in sync with supply schedules to maintain optimal customer service.On the technical and project front, the incumbent will be expected to drive a project-based sales approach, capturing new opportunities and managing the technical sales function to support the conversion of specifications into tangible project wins. Leadership responsibilities include guiding, coaching, and developing the commercial team to enhance their capabilities, commitment, and performance. Creating a work environment based on trust, transparent communication, innovation, and proactive behavior will be essential to achieving organizational goals. Additionally, the Commercial Manager will contribute to broader strategic decisions as a member of the MANCO team.From a governance perspective, the role includes developing and overseeing the implementation of commercial policies and procedures in compliance with ICRF and Saint-Gobain Group business control standards, ensuring robust business control within the sales function. The incumbent may also be required to undertake additional tasks as directed by management.Minimum requirements:The ideal candidate for the Commercial Manager position should hold a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification in Commercial or Civil Engineering, or Construction. A postgraduate qualification would be considered a valuable asset. Candidates must possess a minimum of six years of professional experience, including at least three years in a senior sales management capacity. Industry experience in construction or manufacturing is essential, with a strong focus on solution-driven and multi-product sales approaches.The role requires a demonstrated ability to develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies and business plans, as well as experience in managing relationships with external stakeholders to drive business development. Proven customer relationship management skills and a track record of team development and coaching are critical. Candidates should demonstrate innovative thinking in identifying new market opportunities beyond existing customer bases. Proficiency in Excel, SAP B1, and CRM systems is essential, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
