Job DescriptionThe GESI Coordinator for the EMPOWER Consortium will provide strategic leadership to ensure the integration and mainstreaming of gender equality and social inclusion principles across the EMPOWER project. By promoting equitable participation of women, youth, and marginalized groups, the Coordinator will enhance the project's impact on livelihoods, food security, and resilience in disaster-affected rural Ethiopia.This role is critical to ensuring that the EMPOWER project, implemented by PIN, Ayuda en Acción, and DEC, achieves its goal of promoting inclusive, sustainable development through climate-resilient, non-agricultural value chains and skills training.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic LeadershipDevelop and implement a comprehensive GESI strategy aligned with the project's goals and donor requirementsConduct gender and social inclusion analyses to identify gaps and opportunities, ensuring project interventions are responsive to the unique needs of women, youth, and marginalized groupsProvide GESI-related technical support and strategic guidance to consortium partners and stakeholdersCapacity BuildingDesign and deliver capacity-building sessions for consortium staff, implementing partners, TVET colleges, and private sector collaborators on GESI principles and practicesStrengthen the capacity of staff and partners to develop gender-inclusive curricula and facilitate climate-resilient skills trainingProgram Implementation and CoordinationEnsure GESI considerations are integrated into all project components, including non-agricultural livelihoods, financial inclusion, and climate-resilient technology adoptionFacilitate the establishment of multi-stakeholder platforms to promote gender empowerment and inclusive policiesAlign GESI strategies with TVET curricula and partnership development, fostering equitable career opportunities for women and youthAdvocacy and Policy EngagementAdvocate for gender-responsive policies at local, regional, and national levels, focusing on women's economic empowerment and inclusive developmentEngage with key government bodies, such as the Bureaus of Women and Children Affairs, to influence policy and promote gender inclusivityFacilitate stakeholder dialogues to strengthen partnerships for gender-responsive planning and resource allocationMonitoring, Evaluation, and LearningWork closely with the MEAL team to develop GESI-sensitive indicators and integrate them into the project's monitoring frameworkConduct regular assessments and contribute to gender-disaggregated data collection, analysis, and reportingDocument best practices, lessons learned, and success stories to inform future programming and donor engagementResource MobilizationSupport consortium partners in mobilizing resources for GESI-related initiativesCollaborate with the finance team to ensure efficient allocation and utilization of funds for GESI activitiesPreferred SkillsFamiliarity with Market Systems Development (MSD) approachesProficiency in one or more local languages spoken in Tigray, Oromia, or Afar regionsPrevious experience in green technologies, financial inclusion, or SME developmentQualifications And ExperienceEducation:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Gender Studies, Development Studies, Social Work, or a related field Experience:At least 5 years of experience in gender mainstreaming, social inclusion, and advocacy, preferably in large-scale, multi-stakeholder projects in INGOsProven expertise in conducting gender analyses and implementing GESI strategiesStrong experience in facilitating capacity-building initiatives for diverse audiencesDemonstrated ability to influence policies and collaborate with government and private-sector stakeholders Skills and Competencies:Deep knowledge of GESI frameworks, particularly in the Ethiopian contextExceptional communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholdersStrong analytical and data interpretation skills, with proficiency in gender-sensitive monitoring and evaluationKnowledge of EU-funded project requirements and compliance standards is an assetHow To ApplyInterested applicants for the position should send their CV and Cover letter as soon as possible via the application form until May 11/2025 Women are strongly encouraged to apply.
