OBJECTIVE OF THE CONSULTANCYThe main objective of this consultancy is to review, edit and ensure content/materials are comprehensive, concise, clear and results-basedDuties And ResponsibilitiesUnder the overall guidance of the Deputy Country Representative and programme team leads , the consultant will: Review, understand and internalize the materials/content; Ensure UN Women branding and marking are in place Ensure grammatical accuracy, correct spelling, and proper language usage; Check completeness of documents, ensuring all narrative sections and annexes are in place; Review table of contents and acronym list; Ensure a consistent style, format, and structure throughout the document and elimination of repetition and inconsistencies. Ensure the correct positioning and numbering of boxes, figures and tables; Ensure consistent font (s) – as relevant to headings and text and appropriate use of italicized and bolded words; Thorough review of annexes to highlight incomplete areas along with consistency in presentation as per UN Women publication guidelines (to be shared with the retainer consultant upon signature of the contract). Evidence of having undertaken similar assignments Experience in editing reports, developing policy briefs, and preparing documents for publication. High level written and oral communications skills in English Result-oriented, team player, exhibiting high levels of enthusiasm for gender equality, diplomacy, and integrity. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and professional skills Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with people from varied cultures and professional backgrounds. Ability to produce well-written and edited documents .EducationAdvanced degree (Masters degree) in social science specially in communication, publishing, language, etc; A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree Proven experience in professional writing and editing work at international level;Experience Minimum of 10 years of progressive relevant professional work experience on report writing, translation and editing on the area of gender, women’s rights and development Strong background and understanding of reporting and editing Good interpersonal skills and capacity to liaise with parties concerned; Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Knowledge and understanding of gender, law and Women’s right; Experience in designing and photography usage within publications Experience working with intergovernmental and/or Regional organizations including the United Nations (UN) and African Union (AU) and Substantive knowledge of gender and development will be an asset Substantive knowledge of gender and development; Knowledge and understanding of the social, cultural, and political context of Ethiopia and work in the country will be an asset.Language And Other Skills Fluency in oral and written English is required.
