Job Description

ResponsibilitiesUnder the overall supervision and guidance of the senior program officer, the Field Coordinator will have the following specific duties and responsibilities:Closely works with Senior Program Officer and respective Zonal Health Departments and woreda health offices to ensure project activities and targets are met with the set timelines.Develops woreda based TT surgery plan and coordinates delivery of high volume and quality TT surgery.Ensure TT backlog clearance in the targeted woreda.Mobilize trained and skilled IECW to conduct outreaches and static TT surgery.Conduct supportive supervision and other TT surgery quality assurance interventions.Coordinate TT case finding activities in the implementation area and work diligently to find all TT cases in the project areaEnsure TT surgery service is implemented in in all prevalent woredas and TT backlog is cleared from all woredas in the project areaOrganize review meetings with respective health departments, woreda health office and IECW.Develop and maintain trust and good relationships between Orbis and its partners by working in collaboration with the respective sector institutions, collaborating agencies, volunteer’s workers and communities in the project area.In collaboration with the trained Integrated Eye Care Workers (IECWs) and CHAs/volunteers as well as the health institutions, Woreda Health Offices and Zonal Health Department, plan and implement quality TT surgery servicesProvides and assists trainings for Integrated Eye Care Workers (IECWs), TT case finders such us Health Extension Workers (HEWs), Community Volunteers and other relevant bodies that can contribute to blindness preventionFacilitates the link between the zones, Woredas, health facilities, community and Orbis International-Ethiopia.Prepare quarterly a well-prepared case study and submit to the Senior Program Officer timelyPrepare annual, quarterly and monthly plans together with partners and submit to the senior program officer.Prepare reports for the different trainings conducted in the project area and submit to the senior program officer.Prepare monthly and quarterly reports against the plan and submit to the Senior Program OfficerParticipate in mid-term and final evaluations as well as meetings, as needed.Prepare transition planning documents including fact sheet to ensure TT surgery related plans are integrated in the existing health system in each Woreda of the project areasMaintain adequate records of activities, reports and baseline data of the project area.Follows up the timely and judicious utilization of resources by partners and monitor the timely submission of activity and financial reports.Handle some petty cashes transferred to the project coordination office accounts and timely settling.Work with Senior Program Officer and HR Unit in fulfilling the field office employees compliance requirements and meet END FUND monthly and periodic reporting, like HR status, leave, time sheet and etc.Follow-up collection of models 19 for all dispatched supplies in time and share with the Operations DepartmentEnsures Orbis Ethiopia resources are deployed for the intended purpose and protected from mis appropriationsImplement fleet movement guidance all the time and comply security protocols and report any security incident a head of the tripFollow up vehicle maintenance & servicing is done in line with fleet policy and further guidance of the operations departmentEnsures office utilities and bills are paid in time and keep proper documentationsWork closely with senior program officer and Operations department to create an environment where Orbis Ethiopia employees’ security and safety is protected all the timePerform any other related activities as may be assigned to her/him by his/her supervisor.Qualifications & ExperienceMPH/B.Sc. degree in Public Health / Ophthalmic Officer or other health related fields with at least 4 years of experience.At least one year of demonstrated experience in eye care programs implementation and service delivery.Experience in blindness prevention, trachoma, and/or preventive ophthalmology is an advantage.Speaking the local language of the project area population is an asset.Skills & AbilitiesGood command of written and spoken English.Basic IT skills particularly word processing and spreadsheet applications.Excellent interpersonal communication skills (verbal & written) required.Able to interact and (manage) people of diverse cultural backgrounds.Ability to foster an open trusting work environment.Ability to lead a team in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI)-based environment.Accepts accountability for works planned and promised and respect deadlines.Supports a customer-centered approach to programs, services, and systemsSalary: Based on Organizational ScaleEmployment Duration: Until the duration of the project i.e. December 31, 2027 with possibility of Extension depending on availability of budgetWomen applicants are encouraged to apply
