Role Description The Assistant Manager role at Jay Textile is a full-time, on-site position based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The role involves overseeing day-to-day store operations, supporting sales activities, and coordinating with suppliers and commission agents to ensure timely availability of textile products and cotton ladies’ dress materials. The Assistant Manager will supervise staff schedules, monitor inventory levels, assist with merchandising, and ensure adherence to company policies and quality standards. This position also includes maintaining accurate records, handling basic financial and administrative tasks, and resolving customer inquiries to support a positive shopping experience. The Assistant Manager will work closely with senior management to implement operational improvements and contribute to achieving sales and service targets. Qualifications Experience in retail or textile industry operations, including inventory management, merchandising, and basic sales coordination. Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage daily store activities and ensure accurate record-keeping. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers, staff, suppliers, and commission agents. Ability to lead and support a small team, including task delegation, performance monitoring, and on-the-job guidance. Basic understanding of financial processes such as cash handling, sales reporting, and expense tracking. Proficiency in using standard office software and point-of-sale or retail management systems. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced retail environment. Relevant diploma or bachelor’s degree in business, commerce, textiles, or a related field is preferred. Prior experience working in a multicultural setting and willingness to adapt to local market conditions in Addis Ababa.
