The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing financial operations, preparing financial statements, conducting analysis, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. This role requires a deep understanding of manufacturing cost accounting, inventory management, applicable tax laws and financial reporting standards. Oversee cost accounting processes, including job costing and variance analysis.
Track inventory levels, cost of goods sold (COGS), and prepare cost build worksheets for imports
Conduct periodic inventory audits and support inventory reconciliation. Ensure physical stock movement and balance aligned with system recordings. Ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP).
Role Description
We are seeking a Senior Accountant for a full-time, on-site role located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing financial records, reconciling accounts, preparing financial statements, maintaining compliance with tax regulations, and supporting budgeting and forecasting processes. The role also includes analyzing financial data to provide insights and recommendations, collaborating with internal stakeholders, and ensuring accurate and efficient financial operations in alignment with organizational goals. Ensure compliance with tax regulations and prepare tax returns (e.g., VAT, corporate income tax).
Coordinate with external auditors and tax authorities as required. Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations. Maintain the accuracy and completeness of the general ledger.
Qualifications
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax regulations
5-8 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the manufacturing sector.
Proficiency in accounting software and financial management tools
Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
Effective communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Relevant certifications such as CPA or ACCA are a plus
