Job Description
1. Job PurposeThe Transport Manager is responsible for the efficient, safe, compliant, and cost-effective management of the company's transportation operations and fleet of more than 50 trucks. The role oversees vehicle deployment, driver management, trip planning, fleet utilization, fuel consumption, maintenance coordination, regulatory compliance, and customer service.2. Key ResponsibilitiesTransport OperationsManage day-to-day transportation operations and ensure timely deployment of trucks.Develop and implement efficient transport schedules and routing plans.Coordinate truck allocation based on customer requirements, cargo type, destination, and vehicle availability.Monitor daily trips, deliveries, collections, turnaround times, and vehicle utilization.Coordinate transport, warehouse, workshop, commercial, QHSE, and finance activities.Ensure trucks are positioned appropriately to minimize empty trips and operational downtime.Manage local, regional, cross-border, and long-haul movements where applicable.Fleet ManagementMonitor fleet availability, utilization, operational condition, mileage, fuel consumption, and downtime.Coordinate with the Workshop Manager to ensure preventive and corrective maintenance is completed on schedule.Monitor vehicle replacement requirements and provide recommendations.Ensure vehicles are properly equipped, inspected, documented, and compliant before deployment.Driver ManagementSupervise drivers, including attendance, productivity, discipline, and performance.Ensure drivers have required licenses, permits, training, and certifications.Establish and monitor driver performance KPIs.Promote safe driving practices and compliance with company policies.Investigate driver-related incidents, accidents, customer complaints, and operational violations.Coordinate driver training and refresher programs with HR and QHSE.Cost and Fuel ManagementMonitor fuel consumption and identify abnormal usage or potential losses.Implement measures to reduce fuel costs and unnecessary operational expenses.Monitor maintenance, overtime, toll, parking, and other transport-related costs.Review transport costs against budgets and operational targets.Identify opportunities to improve fleet profitability and cost efficiency.Compliance and SafetyEnsure compliance with transportation laws, road safety requirements, company policies, and customer requirements.Work closely with QHSE to implement transport safety standards.Ensure regular vehicle inspections and documentation.Ensure accidents, breakdowns, and safety incidents are properly reported and investigated.Implement corrective and preventive actions arising from incidents and audits.Performance Management and ReportingEstablish transport KPIs and monitor performance against agreed targets.Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly transport performance reports.Analyze fleet utilization, delivery performance, fuel consumption, downtime, accident rates, and operating costs.Present operational performance and improvement recommendations to senior management.Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the transport function.3. Qualifications and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Logistics, Transport Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.Minimum 5–7 years of experience in transport or fleet management.Proven experience managing a fleet of 50+ trucks is highly preferred.Experience managing drivers, transport planners, and operational teams.Experience in heavy-duty trucks, long-haul transportation, or logistics operations is preferred.Strong knowledge of fleet management, route planning, transport regulations, and road safety.Proficiency in MS Office and fleet/transport management systems.5.
