Role Description
The Branch Manager role is a full-time, on-site position based in the Amhara Region, Ethiopia. The Branch Manager oversees daily branch operations, ensuring efficient service delivery, compliance with interest-free and Sharia-based banking principles, and adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements. This role includes managing and mentoring branch staff, setting performance targets, and fostering a customer-centric culture that supports financial inclusion and high service standards. The Branch Manager is responsible for business development within the branch’s catchment area, including building relationships with individual and institutional customers, promoting the bank’s products, and driving deposit growth and other key business metrics. The position also involves monitoring risk and credit quality, preparing regular performance reports, coordinating with head office functions, and supporting the implementation of digital and technology-driven solutions at the branch.
Qualifications
Strong branch banking operations skills, including cash management, service supervision, and adherence to regulatory and internal control standards.
Experience in leadership and people management, including team coaching, performance monitoring, and staff development within a branch or similar environment.
Proficiency in customer relationship management, sales, and business development, with the ability to grow deposits and attract new clients in a competitive market.
Knowledge of interest-free and Sharia-compliant banking principles, products, and services, or a strong willingness to learn and operate within this framework.
Competence in financial analysis, reporting, and risk assessment, including credit evaluation and portfolio monitoring.
Comfort with core banking systems and digital banking tools, and the ability to support digital adoption among customers and staff.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse customers, communities, and stakeholders.
