Role Description The Senior Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The Senior Accountant will oversee general ledger activities, prepare and review journal entries, reconcile accounts, and ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end closings. The role involves preparing financial statements and management reports, monitoring budgets, analyzing variances, and supporting cash flow management. The Senior Accountant will ensure compliance with Ethiopian tax laws and regulations, prepare and review tax filings, and liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies. The role also includes supporting process improvements in the finance function, mentoring junior team members, and collaborating with operations and management to provide financial insights for decision-making. Qualifications Strong skills in general accounting, financial reporting, and account reconciliation. Experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and cash flow management. Knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws, regulatory compliance, and audit preparation. Proficiency with accounting software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel. Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management abilities. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. Effective communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA) is an advantage. Several years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or diversified business groups. High level of integrity, ethical conduct, and willingness to take ownership and initiative.
