Senior Geologist

We are seeking an experienced and analytical Senior Geologist to lead our coal geological exploration, resource modeling, and mine site development operations. The Senior Geologist will oversee core drilling programs, map coal seam stratigraphy, manage resource/reserve estimation, and ensure strict quality control of extracted coal to optimize mine productivity and economic viability. Key Responsibilities Coal Exploration & Geological Mapping Plan, execute, and supervise surface exploration, core drilling, trenching, and geophysical logging programs. Map local stratigraphy, structural geology, seam thickness, and fault distribution across target concessions. Log rock cores and samples with high precision, accurately classifying coal seam qualities, overburden strata, and floor/roof conditions. Resource Modeling & Reserve Estimation Develop and maintain 3D geological models and coal seam block models using industry-standard software (e.g., Datamine, Vulcan, Surpac, or Micromine). Conduct coal resource and reserve estimations compliant with international reporting standards or equivalent regional frameworks. Analyze coal quality parameters, including moisture, ash content, volatile matter, fixed carbon, sulfur content, and calorific value (CV). Mine Planning & Operational Support Collaborate closely with Mining Engineers to guide short-term and long-term mine planning, pit design, and overburden removal strategies. Provide continuous geological control to minimize coal seam dilution and loss during extraction. Identify geological hazards, including fault zones, soft floor/roof conditions, and high-wall instability, implementing proactive mitigation measures. Data Management, QA/QC & Compliance Implement rigorous Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) protocols for sampling, laboratory preparation, and assay testing. Maintain a centralized, secure geological database of drill hole data, core logs, and lab results. Prepare comprehensive technical reports, feasibility updates, and environmental compliance documentation for internal executive review and regulatory submissions. About You Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, Geological Engineering, or a closely related field. Master’s degree preferred. Experience: Minimum of 6 to 8 years of hands-on professional experience in geological exploration and mine geology, with at least 3 years explicitly focused on coal deposit modeling and coal quality assessment. Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in 3D geological modeling software. Strong expertise in structural geology, sedimentology, coal petrology, and coal seam correlation.
